Hailing from sunny Lake Tahoe, and now residing and riding in the Northwest in our deep maritime snowpack with steep backcountry terrain, Krystin had her start with K2 through the K2 Ski Development as a key female product tester on skis and boots. Behind the scenes for the last five years, she has helped bring to life much of our freeride and touring collections testing prototypes, and helping to provide feedback and direction to shape the future of our skis.
It’d be easier to answer the question: What isn’t Krystin Norman? She’s a community advocate, non-profit volunteer, scholarship founder, rigorous product tester, aaaaaand a coffee scientist by trade.A true community advocate, Krystin has made waves for her mentorship, inclusion, and advocacy of women and other underrepresented groups on top of being a ripping skier, tacking off a hefty list of ski mountaineering accomplishments across the Cascades and beyond.
“My goal in skiing is to enjoy my time on snow but I also want to share my experience of skiing. Whether that be through coaching freeride to youth athletes, contributing to the direction of ski performance, or creating opportunities for more diverse communities to become skiers, I want the future of skiing to be safe. I know I have the resources and passion to contribute positively.”
With her seemingly non-existent free time, Krystin can be found tinkering with her husband Peter on their van build and other DIY projects, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
“Here are some tunes from my all-time favorites, dating back to the years when I would read Pitchfork blog obsessively. A mix of some older and newer stuff, I hope you’ll enjoy!”
