Our Story

It all started with a shop. A garage. A barn. An island. It started with an idea and a belief. It took victories and transcendence. Madness and mistakes.

Since 1962, we’ve been tinkering at the base of the Cascade Mountains in our home state of Washington. With first-class terrain at our disposal, we test products in the most extreme conditions with no shortage of fun.

Now let’s jump to 1987. Our engineers leveraged their knowledge in materials, design, and shape to introduce the Gyrator - a revolutionary new snowboard. While other ski manufacturers shunned snowboarding, we not only embraced it, but also ingrained ourselves in its culture. We haven’t turned back since.

For our employees, K2 is a second family bound together by one common goal: to design, develop, and produce the best possible snow-sliding devices in the world. It starts with unwavering commitment. And after prototyping, trial, error, and repetition, these products come to life and go to market. It all starts here, at a shop at the base of the Cascades.

Known as the Advanced Resource Collective, our custom “shop” is that and so much more. The ARC is a visible representation of K2’s dedication to the research and development necessary to produce the world’s best skis and snowboards. It’s a space to gather, to test product, to brainstorm, to prototype, and now, it’s a small-batch production facility.

Disruption Ti2 Skis

You know that incomparable satisfaction of a deep carve on a wide-open slope? Your hip just barely grazes the fresh corduroy, and you’re charging at a speed that would make your mother’s blood boil.

At K2, we know that feeling quite well. So, we turned it into a ski.

The Advanced Resource Collective (ARC) Disruption Ti² are limited-edition, American-made skis ready to rip it from first tracks to last chair. Stability? You’ve got to feel it to believe it. Speed? Guaranteed to put a competitive smirk on your face. Heavy on the metal with a brand-new I-Beam construction, we’ve built a monster of a ski that doesn’t know the meaning of second place.

Includes Marker Xcomp 16 Binding with Marker WC Piston Plate

Speed Rocker Shape: Short, low rise in the tip with camber throughout and a flat tail for quick turn initiation, precise steering, and maximum stability on groomed snow.

Lightweight and resilient Aspen Veneer Core

KEY FEATURES

Titanal I-Beam

Built with 100% more metal than our proven Titanal I-Beam construction, Ti² I-Beam adds an additional sheet of metal on top of the ski core, providing the ultimate in stability, dampness, and precision when hitting top speeds on groomed snow.

Powerwall

Power transfer is dramatically enhanced with the oversized ABS sidewalls that are laminated and pocketed within the wood-core in the midbody of the ski. With the sidewall extending into the heart of the ski, the transmission of energy from skier to ski edge is direct and precise. Not to mention a heck of a lot of fun.

Dark Matter Damping

We harnessed the depths beyond the conception of gravity as we know it to improve edge contact on rough and firm snow. It’s called Dark Matter Damping — a process where we sandwich a polymeric damper between two layers of high modulus carbon, and strategically place it along the ski edge. The result? Drastically improved edge grip and control. And with more grip and control, you can push faster, harder, and pull into the turn like never before.

ALCHEMIST Snowboard

Riding the biggest lines and landing the biggest tricks requires precision, focus, and the right equipment to safely unstrap at the bottom. To meet the demands of Team riders like Pat Moore and Sage Kotsenburg, we integrated all of our premium technologies, tested countless different versions, and built the K2 Alchemist snowboard - the most capable freeride snowboard on the market.

Directional in shape, flex, and Camber Profile - our flagship snowboard is truly the sum of its parts. Nimble, agile, and extremely powerful, the Alchemist is designed for the riders looking to get the most out of their board and ride through all conditions with confidence. A tapered outline enhances float in deep snow without compromising the ability to ability to ride switch.

Inside the Alchemist, our Bambooyah™ Pro Core block increases pressure to the edge by placing bamboo and aspen at 30° underfoot - helping to supercharge the edge-to-edge response and increase pressure distribution. This allows you to keep pressure on your edge and remain in your sidecut through the chop.

In the tip - a USA made 3D printed honeycomb tip insert provides unmatched structural performance and damping while also reducing weight over a traditional wood core. In the tail, our pre-cambered Carbon Power Forks™ help to transfer energy to the contact point and also increase pop - making this board feel lively and powerful.

Atop the core, a triaxial fiberglass lay up is combined with K2’s Patented Spectral Braid™ - a variable angle reinforcement that allows us to tune the tip-to-tail flex independent from the torsional flex of the snowboard by altering the orientation of the fibers long the length of the snowboard - we use this to make the Alchemist torsionally stiffer in the tip and tail, and a bit more relaxed between the feet. This means easy turn initiation and unparalleled edge hold.

Lastly, on the outerlayers of the Alchemist, a snow-shedding SnoPhobic™ topsheet helps to reduce weight and snow build up, and a Stone Ground Carbon Infused 5500 Sintered base makes this snowboard glide faster than hell and smoother than a baby’s bottom.

Made right here in Washington State, the USA K2 Alchemist Snowboard is built for experienced snowboarders looking for a quick, fast, and hyper-precise snowboard that will confidently perform anywhere you take it.

Directional Camber Profile

The most responsible camber profile in our line features camber running from in front of the front foot to the tail of the board with a slight early-rise in the nose. This gives the rider the most precision and control possible in any terrain, while still floating effortlessly in the deep stuff.

Bambooyah™ Pro Core

Equal parts performance, renewable, and durable, we’ve blended three different species of wood to create the most premium core in our offering. Bamboo and aspen are placed at 30° underfoot to supercharge the edge to edge response and increase the pressure distribution along the edge. We’ve also placed lightweight paulownia in the tip and tail help to reduce swing weight and complementary tip to tail bamboo stringers help with snap, stability, and damping.

Spectral Braid™

First of it’s kind variable angle reinforcement that allows us to tune the tip-to-tail flex independent from the torsional flex of the snowboard by altering the orientation of the fibers long the length of the snowboard.

Triaxial Glass

A fiberglass laminate with diagonal layers that adds torsional stiffness for increased stability and improved edge hold. The fibers three layers of fibers are woven at 45°, 45°, and 0°. This makes for a more responsive ride longitudinally and torsionally.

Carbon Powerforks™

Strategically shaped to offer greater response and energy return by increasing the width toward the tail - allowing for more material to be engaged, and more energy to be created the harder the tail is flexed.

3D Printed Spaceglass™ Tip Insert

A 3D printed tip insert helps to provide unmatched structural performance at a reduced weight. This tip insert increases edge hold along contact points, reduces chatter, and provides unrivaled durability.

Stone Ground Carbon Infused Sintered 5500 Base

A flat, open 5500 P-Tex base that is structured to perform well in all snow conditions, properly absorb wax, and glide faster than a belt-sanded snowboard. Carbon additives help to increase wax retention and decrease drag for a faster, smoother ride.

LIMITED-EDITION

Wildheart Women’s Snowboard

A dream in the deep stuff, and consistently exceeding the expectations on groomers, side hits, and tight lines through the woods. The K2 Wildheart starts with our women’s specific Rhythm Core™ and this limited version sandwiches it with a biax glass and K2’s patented Spectral Braid™ - allowing us to adjust the longitudinal and torsional flex independently of each other. This allows us to increase toe-to-heel response without adding any stiffness tip-to-tail.

When it comes to shape, the K2 Wildheart snowboard was designed with 10mm of taper. A longer, wider, pointy nose helps to slice through and plane above the snow, while a shorter, narrower tail will drop in deep snow to make turn initiation a breeze. A set-back Directional Camber Profile works in harmony with the shape of the board to give you all of the float without sacrificing any of the power that you get out of a traditional cambered snowboard.

We put a SnoPhobic™ topsheet helps to shed unwanted weight on the topsheet and then round it out with our Sintered 4000 base with a Stone Ground structure to create a durable freeride snowboard that simply excels in a variety of conditions.
